Big jump in information regarding the exploits of our physician friend Matthew...leaps of adventures that ultimately bring him back to Cambridge and his teaching duties. Restless after the loss of Matilda he accepts a travel invitation from Brother Michael who is to be installed as a Canon at the cathedral in Lincoln. And so the story of the tarnished chalice begins in earnest and you may just be surprised by the outcome. Lots of twists and turns and, of course, bodies. Not one of my favorites in the series, but definitely a worthy read.
