Hi! I'm trying to learn tatting. Does anyone have any advice on shuttle vs. needle tatting? Or any suggestions on brands threads etc? Thanks!

I've only tatted with a shuttle, and its been a while.  I think tatting is one of those lost and dying arts hardly anyone does it any more.  Its a shame because the lace is so pretty.  I do a lot of crochet edgings with threads.  It goes faster and its easier to find patterns.  Sorry that is not much help.

I've done some tatting in my time.  I've been traveling and hadn't seen your post earlier.  Have you looked on YouTube for videos of the the techniques you are trying to master?  And somewhere I have a DVD/book combo I use for reference sometimes.  On Ravelry there are some tatters as well you might use for support.  Tatting is certainly the one skill I could not have learned exclusively from a book!  I'm so thankful for the two ladies who helped me learn years and years ago.  PM me if you have any more questions.
