This book was almost like a journal, which is not quite what I was expecting. I was hoping for more insight or more practical advice for myself as a teacher. Instead it was more of a memoir of one semester in this professor's class. There were a few nuggets of insight, but there was so much detail on the actual subject matter of his class (late 19th and 20th century American history - *yawn*), that those nuggets were hard to find. I do think that I would have enjoyed it more had I been interested in the subject of the course.
