This was an interesting twist on the typical cozy mystery genre. I liked that it didn't involve a murder, although I found this mystery pretty convoluted and difficult to follow. It was hard to keep the characters straight, and I didn't connect with them at all. Rose was a cardboard cutout and Jan and Elaine spent too much time dwelling on the past or talking about their grandkids for me to see them as active parties investigating an interesting mystery.
I did like that the book was not over-dramatized as many cozies are. There was no harrowing scene at the end where the main character(s) make a narrow and completely unrealistic escape from the main suspect, which was refreshing.
