There are some older books in the system called the Sunfire Series. They are historical fiction/romance. All have a girl's name (Amanda, Elizabeth), and are set in a particular time.(Amanda is the Oregon Trail and Elizabeth is during the Salem Witch trials) and they usually have to choose between two boys.  They were terrific and some of my  favorites when I was a teen.   I was always bummed they didn't have a "Kimberly" in the series :)

Fantastic fiction has a list of many of the books.   http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/search/?page=1&searchfor=book&keywords=sunfire&sortby=1

I have Rachel on my shelf if you'd like to see if she'd like it.

There is a series called Summer Boys and it's got four or five books that are teen romance based at the beach.  I read them a few years ago and I liked them.  I think I might have the first one sitting around here somewhere actually...

I just posted a great deal on the Bazaar, several book lots have teen romance. one has 19 books for 4 credits.  I need to clear my shelves.

I have 4 sons and am not peronally interested in teen romance so I can't tell you about the books other than that they are definately NOT something my boys wanted to read.  LOL

My daughter read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer and she loved them!  She has also succeded in getting me to read them too.  As an adult - I loved the series as well.  My twelve year old son has also joined in and has read all three of them too.  The author has a new book for the series coming out in Aug. and the Twilight movie comes out in December.  The three of us can't wait.  We have already pre-ordered the 4th book and have started arguing over her gets to read it 1st, 2nd etc.

This is a fun teen series, not the literature that your sixteen year old will be studying in school, but great summer reading!

you might also want to try Sarah Dessen (This Lullaby, Just Listen ...)  she deals with coming of age stories with a twist of romance.

You might also want to try the "Christy Miller" series by Robin Jones Gunn.  There are about 12 books in the series, and they are excellent books for teens.  I read them 3 times when I was in high school!  They are actually Christian books, but they have a lot of romance in them as well.

FYI--I don't have the original series (there are other people who have them on this site though), but I DO have the first book of the College Years series that follow the original series, if you're interested.  :)

Lurlene McDaniel as someone said is really good, very very sad, but good.

Currently I am offering a deal on two of her books, Telling Christina Goodbye will come with Garden of Angels for free since Garden of Angels has a few slight stains on it.

Also there is this wonderful series ah I can't think of the name...

Found it (thank google).

Both Sides of Time by Caroline B. Cooney.

Out of Time by Caroline B. Cooney.

Prisoner of Time by Caroline B. Cooney.

For All Time by Caroline B. Cooney.

Obviously you HAVE to read them it order. But they are wonderful novels about time travel, but more importantly, love. I read them in 7th grade and adored them. And I read a lot so it's amazing that I still remember that I loved them.

I'm 15 and I really enjoy Sarah Dessen's books.  They are all young adult romances.  My personal favorite was Someone Like You, which is actually on my mom's bookshelf. (This is my mom's account)  Also, Lauren Myracle has written 2 really cute romance-y novels (The Break-Up Bible & If I Have A Wicked Stepmother, Where's my Prince?) which I read each of in a day because they were so good.
Best of luck :)
