| Everyone knows that when in the military you're expected to move at least every 3-4 years to another base.For us at our last duty station we had been here for 6 years.Then my husband who was in the Air Force had orders to Okinawa,Japan. Our teenage children two girls ages 12,16,a boy age 14 didnot want to go because of the challenge of a land of the "Unknown".As they called it.We had a family meeting to express our feelings and talk about the move.For me, all I wanted was to come back to the States at least once a year.Not knowing that what I said was to come true with lots of madness involved.So we all get passports as well as medical updates.My mother had decided to go with us as we had lost my father and had no one to take care for her.Even though my brother and sister lived in the same town.They didnot want the responsiblity..My husband orders to Japan was for us to move in three months.There was items that had to go to storage,household things for yard sale.As we were limited to what were able to take.As the move to overseas got closer,my mother changed her mind. I thought I was just about to lose it.Then my sister stepped in and deciced to take her.With that taken care of,then there was the time difference between here and Japan.The time zone was a factor.So here is a telephone call...At 2am Japan time the phone rings.Thinking it had to do with the military my husbands answers.With crying on the phone he says to pick other and I think its' your sister.Sure enough its her.And at noon here in the states she had gotten into a arguement with our brother.I am five thousand miles away and they are within ten miles from each other.What is wrong with this picture??? |
