Anyone else have HUGE reminder and wish lists?  I have all 200 spots on my WL full and I have almost 200 books on my reminder list that I want to read (let's not even talk about my tbr - I'm guessing 200-300 books there too).

I do feel like I'm making up for lost time though.  Before PBS I went into a bookstore, read the backs of books until I found something interesting, bought it, read it, repeat.  I didn't read reviews or get other people's opinions on some great books out there.  Now that I've discovered PBS and AAR I am just going crazy trying to get my hands on all the books I've been missing out on.

So that's my excuse, what's yours?  :-)

Mine aren't that big... only 7 books on my wishlist (mainly cozy mysteries) and only 7 on my reminder list, although that's not complete...I have a list of probably another 15 written down.

I used to keep a big list, but I was overwhelming myself.

I think of my WL as being huge - 131 books, all romance, except for 10 or 12 anime books my son wants.  Those I didn't think there was any possibility of getting, but I seem to be slowly moving up the WL.  Reminder list is a good bit smaller at 48.  It's mostly things I want to order eventually that aren't high priority.  I usually watch for them on special, or check for them periodically in BOB, so the list slowly shrinks over time, unless I add something else.

I have around 35 on my WL and over 80 on my reminder list.

I agree about this place being a great resource for finding good books. Before I relied mainly on Amazon recommendations (and they usually only point out new books) or reading back covers at the UBS. I've found a lot of good reads here through other's recommendations.

I've got about 178 on my WL and nearly 400 on my RL!  I have a number on my RL that are new books that are there just to remind me that they are coming out soon.  I try to go through and mark them off at least once a month and write them down on the calendar for the month they are being released.  I've not done April yet.

I have 142 on my WL and everyday it grows and grows...thanks to all you wonderful people.  My reminder is around 64.  I have found so many new authors it amazes me.

Mine aren't that big... I try to save my credits for books I'm not likely to find used or at the library.  Most of my WL is hard to find Mary Balogh and autism books for my son.

I really need to start making use of the library.  I'm not sure why I don't.  It just makes so much sense (doh!).

The library is thee most sensible thing in the world for me.  I go and bring home 10 books.  Sometimes, I hate all 10 and can't get past page 2.  The other option, which is the bookstore, would cost me between 7 and 15 dollars a book and if you can't get past chapter 1 that really stinks.  I recently bought a lori foster book--Hard to Handle--and got home and couldn't get into the story no matter what.  So now I have a brand new, untouched copy for the system.  Ouch.

MY WL is at 38 and my RL is at 56.  I use the RL to remember books that either I may just buy outright (if they are new releases or heavily Wishlisted) or for books that someone mentions here in a thread that sounds good but I don't have an urgent need to read right this second.

Monica - you're right about the library.  I don't really know why I don't use it more but I should.

Alright ladies, I am making a new committment to the library.  I just went through my wish list and checked it against the library's online catalog.  I was able to remove 26 books that are available now on the stinking shelf!!!  I feel like an idiot.  You heard it here first -- I am not ordering any more books on PBS if they are available at my local library.  Sheesh!!!!  LOL!

I am new here so my list is very small. I have never had a TBR pile ever (not counting 1 or 2 books). Like some on else said I have always got a couple books read them and repeat. Now that I found this site who knows how many books will pile up lol. as for the library I owe them money ($10) and I never have cash on me so I think I need to get my account right with them and start  going back there as well. I always am so late with my books.

I always try to remember to check my library before I WL anything... there are 8 libraries in the system here, but I really only go to three of them, the other 5 are 30 min. or more away...why waste the gas when it would be cheaper at that point to order the book through PBS? The library tells me they'll import books from those libraries for me, but it's only ever happened one time, years ago... they're just too lazy about it.

i use my local library heavily.  since i can request any book in the system online and have it delivered to my local branch - and they email me when it's there - i'll get what i can there unless it's a favorite author i'm collecting.  great for sf&f, not so great for romance - particularly paranormal.

i've got a system of 4 different amazon wishlists to categorize books on how i plan to get my hands on them (and two more for books that coming out later), and the ones that make it to my WL and RL here are the ones on my main wishlist and my 'try to find used' list.  from my mail wishlist there's a fairly decent chance i'll end up buying it new before it turns up here.  the 'find used' list is the bulk of my WL and RL (and i also carry a printed version of the list in my purse for trips to the UBS and FOL shelf/sales).

right now WL is 139 and it seems like growing daily.  RL is only 20 with mainly things i don't want to order yet, and a few i ordered already that have gone lost that i'm waiting a bit before re-ordering.

Can someone tell me what is the use of the RL? I think it takes too much time to search specific titles; it's quicker just to jot it down in a book for me.

I have a WL of 36 (some are different versions of the same books), and only a handful on my RL.  My TBR pile is huge, and I probably don't get through as many books per week as some of you, so it's slower for me getting through them.  I only WL books that I am really interested in, and since I don't want my TBR to grow faster than I get WL books, I don't WL many of them.  Have to say, though, that since I joined the Steamy Swap, my WL is starting to grow faster, lol.

Regarding libraries- we don't have one in the city where I live.  We are the largest city in Oregon not to have its own library.  Our urbanized area is not very large though, so we can use the Salem library, which is only 5 miles away from my house- however, they charge non-Salem residents $80 per year for that.  Some years I have paid the fee, but haven't for awhile.  My kids use their school libraries, and I get them books from PBS, so they are pretty well set.  And like I said, it's not like I'm reading a dozen books a week- if I did, then the library might be worth the annual fee.

Ok, here's  my reason for the RL.....if you put a book on there, it shows you how many of that book are in the system.  If I see a book with only 1 or 2 copies in the system, I snatch it up.  I don't know if this feature is available anywhere else, but that's where I found it.

"I always am so late with my books."  Jessi -- My library is online so I can renew my books from home.  Before this, I was always late.

my wish list has about 50 books on it - but many of the books i REALLY want have both hb and pb version on there. my reminder list is only about 25.  I polish off most books in 2 days, so have come to depend on PBS and especially the library to keep me in books.

the library rocks my socks off!  it's really changed since we were kids with all the online advances. looking at the website, i can see which branch has the book I want and if it's in, plus renewing online is so easy.  I also can take advantage of inter-library loan, if they don't have something i *need* to read. i love that the library sends email reminders for coming due books, since it keeps me on my toes.  the branch closest to my house also has a lot of recent tv series on dvd too, which I can check out up to 10 for a week.  We're lucky to live 5 minutes from 2 different branches - so go about 2 times a month.

Also - one of the branches does a free monthly crafts night - so I've made lip balm, jewelry and even a sock monkey there.  It just amazes me all the great stuff there is and it's FREE!  I've become such a library geek.

Monica - I use the RL for the same thing (to see how many copies are in the system)

My WL is over 100 and is a mix of romance and some documentary types.  My RL is huge too - well over 100 I'd say.  I use my RL for books that I maybe want to read but "not right now".  I also try to do my BOB exchanges from my RL so I don't use so many credits.

My WL is around 18, my RL is at 204.  I use my RL to keep track of series that I haven't completed, books I've read and want to get back, books I'm undecided about and ones that have intrigued me.  I've been trying to get books of of my RL in order to skim it down a bit.

My WL is at 195.  A lot of them are books that won't be released for several months.  I have new releases as far ahead as December right now.  Some are books that I will probably never get and some are two or three different versions of the same book, so it's not quite as bad as it looks.  But still, if I even get half of them it's a pretty hefty bill.

I've been looking into the local library to my husband's delight.  Our little dinky town library doesn't have romances and doesn't care about them.  But the town 8 miles from here has a tiny library that is hooked into the whole big county system of libraries and they are big libraries.  Anyway they do the ordering online from any library and having it sent to the one closest to you, so I am going to see if they really do what the ad says.  It would be a real money saver if it works.

Basically all I use the Reminder list for is to track how many copies of a book there are in the system.  Sometimes I put books from my bookshelf on there to see if, although there are a gazillion of them out there, they are moving.  If they aren't moving I just donate it and clear it out of here.  Or if I am interested in a book and there are only a few I am more likely to go ahead and order it, but if there are a lot I take my time and think about it some more.

I have around 100 books on my WL, a few of them are for my daughters but most are mine. I've never used the RL. I have a notebook that I keep that type of info in.

The town I live in doesn't have a library and the one I was going to in a neighboring town has started charging a yearly fee. They don't carry enough of the books I like to read to justify the cost.

I was using the library system for years now but found that I have slowed down with my reading to a point that my books are always late. I do have 1 book checked out and one DVD right now.

I have 199 on my WL and 247 on my RL. Basically I use my RL for WL overflow( can't wait for the WL changes!) and to check on # of copies in the system and also to keep track of titles I'm interested in but not ready to order just yet.
