Anyone else a member of this? Have you gotten a shipment lately? I just got one in the mail today. the books used to be actual books just like they sell in the store...now they are like ARC's Plain white cover with author/title and no isbn# They used to be new titles---now one was from 2008 and one was from 2009. I used to post them on here after I did the survey..now I have no clue what to do with them. Any ideas?

Is that the same thing?  There was a thread not too long along about a certain book.  I asked what the program was about because, while I read them(the historicals), I hadn't heard of the ambassador program.

I filled out the survey and was accepted.  Haven't received a shipment yet.  I did do the survey today-that's the only email I'd had from them.

In that previous thead, when they receive a shipment of books-it was 5 of the same book-not different titles.  They said that they include a title when they ship out a WL'ed book.  But I got the impression that it was new titles-not ones from years ago!  That would be a disappointment.

Hopefully someone will know more.

I got my plain white books today too.  They certainly aren't eye catching at all; I prefer the color cover with a scene similar to one in the book.  I'm in no hurry to read either book that I received.

I also got two plain ugly books lol both are 2010s though

I wish there was at least a blurb on them, too lazy to look the books up :P

Though from the titles, they don't look like books I would care about

i got my shipment in the mail Friday, both white covers too.  I looked them up and both are 2010 release Presents books. I don't usually read Presents books, but both were pretty decent (although I did want to smack the heros a bit!) Not sure why they are moving to white covers...

Ditto to everything above.  Not high up on my TBR  list though.

I won't post the Harlequin books even when they have an ISBN - they tend to be edited/censored, and I would be very pissed to receive one in a swap. Check before you post for a mention of "this book may be different from the original edition", something like that.

Really---I didn't know that-- I assumed they were just normal books. I have posted the ones I received before, and they were requested fairly fast because they were a current title. no one who has gotten them has mentioned anything about them being edited/censored

Before these recent white cover copies, all the previous books I received from Tell Harlequin were normal, unedited, retail copies.

Yep, I got my white cover books yesterday, too.  No ISBN.  Bummer.  I've always posted the books after I've read them, too, and never had any complaints.

It's possible they're mailing different books than the ones the "Harlequin Ambassadors" are getting, but several of those (the Presents) have been edited to remove the sex scenes.  Not everyone will notice -- though I did see a review on Amazon from someone who read one and was very puzzled by how abrupt it was. (Which was my first clue.)

I received my white cover books also.  It came with a letter to watch for a survey on these books.  I've always just received the books before with no survey required.  Anyone know how long before they ask you to do the survey?   I'm reading a lot of books right now and don't want to read them and then have to go back and reread them because I forgot what happened in them lol.

I did my survey a few days ago. I THINK they leave the survey up for a few weeks. Every shipment I have gotten has had a survey. I am pretty sure that after a few shipments and no surveys done they will remove you

Thanks Brandy.  They usually send me 5 of the same books and the letter says to pass on to friends.  Nothing about a survey :)

I've always gotten the surveys in my email but maybe that's because I've never read the lit that comes with them.  LOL  I've never posted them here though because I thought they were ARCs.  They say not for sale on them.  I usually donate to the library (who does charge a dime for them) or give them to a local nursing home.

Donna, I think you are in a different program from Harlequin, maybe the ambassidors. The whole purpose of the readers panel is to get our opinions on how they can improve the books.

I used to include one of the books I got as a freebie when someone ordered a book.

I do that too or offer it as part of a deal.

I don't know if I am going to read the 2nd one. why waste my time, when I have so much I want to read. I think I am going to request removal from the program.

I got these books....I received Hotly Bedded, Conveniently Wedded and this Greek Maverick one.....I think there were 4 books total and each person received two titles. I wasn't very interested in reading them, but I did so I could do the survey and do my part as one of the panel. They were quick reads, and then I posted them to my "unpostable list" in the header of my bookshelf. If they don't go, which I doubt they will, then I will put them in the next garage sale I have.

Cassie - I got the same books as you and I noticed that the page count is different than the versions shown on Amazon - by 6+ pages (so a short book is now even shorter). I just finished the Greek Maverick one and am now starting the Hotly Bedded book.

I' ve been a member for a couple of years now.  There seems to be a variety of things done under the Ambassador/Tell Harlequin umbrella.

  • I've receive new copies of books (5 copies of the same book) to read and distribute, then comment in a survey.  Since I always left them in public places for pickup I never could give feed back on what friends & family  "thought" about the book so I think I've been dropped from that part, haven't gotten any in a while.
  • I also have received the "white covers" with pub dates ranging back to 2006 with surveys requests to comment on content & writng style after reading them.
  • I've been asked opinions on how to display their various categories/lines (as now seen on their new website), color versus pictures
  • About which type of cover was more appealing, about content of various books and whether I'd read more of the same and other things.

Since their books are such quick reads (for me) I keep responding to the program, but I must admit I'm in agreement with you'all when you mention have too big of a TBR list to waste time reading old stuff.  And no, I've never gotten anything but books from them.  I must admit you've all made me think about whether this is really worth my time.

I just did the survey, even though I am not done with the 2nd book. Does it really matter? The stories are so shallow and predictable. On the final screen I made a comment, like, if they would send me some Nocture or Suspense, then I could give them a much better review, and mention that I would be throwing them in the trash since they don't have real covers. Maybe that will make an impression. Who knows! If they send me garbage like this next time around I won't even read them.
