I'm a therapist and I'm currently working in the substance abuse field which always secretly makes me laugh since my husband makes homebrewed beer in our garage;)

I've worked as a typesetter, computer graphics specialist (before there was such a thing as photoshop), software applications instructor (once known as the Word guru), and systems administrator. After my brain exploded in 2005, I got off the information superhighway. I'm now a homeschooling mom with a very basic cell phone and a simple laptop PC (not wireless). I don't do twitter, facebook, blogging, or texting. Perhaps it's a rebellious phase I'm going through, but I'd like to think there are other anti-tech, former geeks out there.

I'm a 911 Dispatcher.  I used to be a Real Estate agent and before that I was a Petty Officer in the Navy.

I'm very suspicious of people wanting lots of online information about me. ;-)

I'm a part time rural mail carrier. Love my job (but not this month!). My mother, father and brother are all private pilots with their own small airplanes and i'm terrified of flying!  My father builds his own airplanes and was featured in Sport Aviation magazine (August 2008 issue), his airplane is on the cover shot and a nice article inside.

Coo-wul, TANYA. My granddaddy was a rural route carrier/harley dealer in Floydada TX (1912-1946). He used his motorcycle (before they had shock absorbers) w/sidecar to deliver mail on the dirt roads. My favorite pic is of his Harley w/8 sidecars on either side, stretching across the full width of an unpaved highway.

And my daddy never finished his airplane, but he did fly. The wings of his plane sat on long worktables in his garage for years and years.

WILLA - Use a little discernment, girl! There are definitely some kinds of info that shouldn't be shared, but we already know your deepest, darkest secret... '-D

Lol, Willa.  Good one:P

I'm a cosmetologist.  Well, former; I don't work anymore & let my license lapse.  I also make Victorian style beaded purses & chokers - what my darling teenaged son calls "bar floozy necklaces" (I think they remind him of chokers he's seen in movies on dance-hall girls):P  Haven't posted any to sell yet, but I mean to open an etsy shop as soon as I find someone to model them for the pics.

Hey, Kim! I'm a former nail technician and gave it up earlier this year. I still have my license because I didn't want to have to pay for nail school again if I decide to go back into the field. I'm in school now studying business so that I can start another business involving books. And Sherri, I'm an Air Force vet, but that was another lifetime ago!  I never did serve overseas and was stationed at Bolling AFB in D.C. I remember experiencing the coldest winter of my life while there (when Reagan was inaugurated indoors because it was so cold), especially since I was strictly a So. Ca. girl up until that time.

Lol, Regina. After I got my license, I went to community college to get my Business Management degree. I wonder if that's really common. I dropped out of business school when I got pregnant with my 1st though, & didn't go back. Finals + morning sickness were more than I could deal with:P

Kim, I never thought about obtaining any kind of business background when I ran my own nail business, but I can see now that it would have been so beneficial for my business. What I learned this past term in practical accounting made me realize that I could have had a better sense of my financial worth and probably have made better choices. The nail business was so fun just because it was so different from my administrative background but after five years I was ready for a career change.

I was lucky about that morning sickness, though; I never did have to deal with that, thank goodness!

Jessie: "I am just a stay at home mom to two crazy spoiled kids."

No one is 'just" a stay at home mom; you are a MOM and that is job #1!

I am an attorney, and in undergrad my only B (in an otherwise all-A record) was in ethics.  I had a pretty busy law practice for 9 years while my DH was a stay-at-home dad.  A few years ago, I quit my law firm and my husband and I now run a home-based eBay business so I can put my kids on the bus, be here when they get home and be a bit more flexible.  The down side of the eBay business is that I tend to spend ALOT of time online, including evenings checking auctions and answering questions.

I am also a stay at home mom.  I have four kids 14, 10,8, and 5 and I homeschool all of them.  They have never been to "real school".  Somedays I would like to put them ALL in school.  (like today)  LOL

Don't laugh, ok?  I make maps for a living (I'm a GIS Analyst), been doing it for going on 20 years now.  However, I am directionally-challenged- if I am driving/walking around, I get disoriented very easily and always worry about getting lost.  Maybe it's because of what I do, but one of my biggest pet peeves is maps that are not to scale and/or not north-oriented (the top of the page is not north).  That will totally screw me up every time- like those stupid mall signs that show you where all the stores are- I can never figure out which direction to go from the "YOU ARE HERE" dot!

Colleen, you must be my soul sister- I am totally the opposite of a technical geek myself.  I have the most basic cell phone there is, and have only had that for about 3.5 years- never had a cell phone before that, and I managed to survive just fine.  I do not text, would not even know how to if it was required of me.  I continue to just say no to Facebook even though I have multiple people in my life who keep telling me I HAVE to get on it- ummmm, NO.  One of my oldest friends keeps telling me about all of these people from high school that she has been hooking up with, and sorry, but I'd rather leave high school in the 80s where it belongs, so no thanks!  I like to live in the now.  Twitter?  Sorry, no offense to anyone who is into that, but seems like a big waste of time to me.  If I want to know how someone is or what they're doing, I'd rather just call them and hear their voice.  Guess I just prefer real, personal contact!  I do email though- my BFF (who also got me into this site) and I email several times a week, so that is one technology that I am willing to admit to embracing.  That's about it though- I could care less about the rest!

I'm a stay at home mom too. I have a 2 year-old. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm cut out for this job long-term. It's hard and thankless. I am thinking about finding a part-time job just so I can get a BREAK!

I am a CPA.

Don't ask me for tax advice since I don't work in tax :)

My friends can't understand why I read romance but after seeing numbers all day long, a little smut doesn't hurt. ;)

Mine are teens now (been doing it since 2000), and I liken it to being pecked to death by baby birds:P

Oooh, I love maps Lesley!  I can find anything on a map.  I much perfer it to a GPS, which I'm sure I could never figure out.

I have a pre-paid cellphone (TracFone) and am lucky to remember to turn it on every couple of days just in case there's a message there.  I think it will text message although I have no idea how to do it.  I too shun Facebook and MySpace and Twitter and all of those.  I don't care about the people I went to HS with.  I live in the same town I graduated from and I've never been to any of the reunions and don't plan to go to my 20th next  year.

However, I am considered the techno-geek in the store.  Need help with a computer?  They just call me.
