I was just curious if the Temperance Brennan series by  Kathy Reichs has to be read in order or can you skip around ?

I suggest reading in order because of developments in the characters relationships and there are instances referred to in later books to things that happened in previous ones.

So are the books as good as the show? I just ordered the first book and since my husband loves the show, he said he would give reading a try again. lol I just don't get how someone couldn't love to read but I'm happy he is willing to give it a go.

Books bear no resemblence to the tv show outside of main character's name & profession. I like the books a great deal, though.

Are they pretty serious or is there some humor in them?

Hey Collette - How are ya??

The books are pretty serious and they can be graphic when it comes to dead bodies and such. They're more of a thriller a la Harlan Coben than I'd call a mystery. My DD has read every single one of the booksand LOVES the show too but like someone said, there is no resemblance at all between the two except for the main character's name and they both work in forensics.

Hey Susan! Good to see you! We have been out of touch for too long. :D

Thanks for the info on these.  Hubby might like the seriousness of them actually. I'm the comedian in the family and like humor in many of the books I read but these sound really interesting anyway. We'll give it a shot. :)

I just love her books. And the books are way better than the show. The show seems completely different. It is good to read them in order, but when I first started I didn't. But then went  and ordered from the beginning. I only have Grave Secrets and Bones to Ashes left in HB if anyone is interested just PM me. Jeanne
