I had high hopes for this book, but came away disappointed. It was told as a series of narratives to a doctor seeking information for his higher up, and I found this style somewhat impersonal. I found her Ireland childhood and early years in Barbados more interesting than the latter third of the book, where her childbearing years and eventual uprising took place. Interesting, but not as descriptive as I would have liked.

A very touching book. A heart felt story about a woman who was taken as a child and turned into a slave. An Irish slave. I enjoyed this book. It flowed a little different than most books I read but over all I did enjoy it very much. It is a good story, touching, and it will surely make you feel for the conditions and the situation that All Slaves have been in.
