Book 3 of the trilogy:
He was everything she despised in a man. So why couldn't she stay out of his arms? This had to be the worst night of Sage Tyler's life. First her fiancéé jilts her. Then she has to fly home with Harlan Boyd, the arrogant, drop-dead gorgeous stranger who overheard every word of that humiliating episode--and enjoyed it! All Sage wants is for this sexy, no-account drifter to keep his distance--and keep her broken engagement a secret. But Harlan Boyd has desires of his own... She was the most beautiful, exciting, unpredictable woman Harlan had ever met, and he could barely keep his hands off of her. Yet he tried to stay away, tried to remember that Sage Tyler needed a man who'd convince her of her own worth, not a man who'd be moving on. Then Sage's family business, the Tyler Drilling Company, came under the threat of ruin, and Sage and Harlan suddenly found themselves fighting side by side to save it... in quarters too close to keep passion at bay. Can spoiled, headstrong Sage find love with a man who seems so easy to get and so hard to keep?

I loved all three of these stories because it still touched on the other two characters from the previous stories, but also told Sage's story.

Sage is the main character and she is proud, ambitious, and wants to prove she can help with the family business. Her brothers have taken on a man who she is attracted to but is unlike her ex-fiance. Reads quickly and fast moving.

great ending to the series

The first two books of this trilogy were about the brothers of the Tyler family. This last one is about their younger sister, Sage.

The basic plot is very similar to the first two. It does have a neat twist at the end that surprised me.

I do feel that the author went overboard on the sex in this one. It's fun to read a sexy trashy novel, but it can be overdone. Perhaps because I read all three in a row, I just got sick of the very explicit sexual descriptions. I think if I had spaced them out I might not have been so turned off by it all, but I'm not sure. This one seemed just to go too far.

All in all, I enjoyed the trilogy as a change from my usual reading. It was fun to read something totally different for a change. I gave it 4 stars because the whole trilogy, including this one, kept me reading until I finished it

Growing up with two strong older brothers, she learned at an early age to fight for what she wanted. Sage Tyler set her mind on a certain life style and level of success, and planned to marry a mild mannered professional type. That's the kind of man she thought she wanted - sophisticated, quiet...and controllable. But on a visit home, she encounters Harlan Boyd. Harlan is working for her brothers. He possesses a small town mentality which she disparages, an inflated ego which she finds insufferable, and is amused, not intimidated, by her imperiousness and affected snobbery. Much to her dismay, Sage falls in love with Harlan because he's not only provocative and virile in a come-on-I-dare-you way, but he's the first man in her life she hasn't been able to wrap around her little finger. Soon, however, Sage learns there's much more to Harlan that she suspected. Thrown together in a last, desperat scheme to save Tyler Drilling, Sage and Harlan fall more and more deeply in love - and discover a whole new dimension of daring...and loving.

Book 3 in the trilogy.

Having just graduated from college, Sage Tyler is ready to get on with her life. But when her fiance dumps her on Christmas Eve, Sage is humiliated because it happened in front of Harlan Boyd, a new employee of Tyler Drilling. Harlan was sent by the Tyler family to bring Sage back home. He is intrigued by Sage and wants to get to know her better. Sage doesn't want anything to do with him.

This is the last book in Sandra Brown's Texas Trilogy. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Colleen Marlo. She does a fine job with the various characters in this book.

We met Sage in the previous books in the series. She was the youngest sibling in the Tyler family and she had a smart mouth. In this book we get to know Sage a little more. She may be older but she is has not matured. She is still the bratty little sister with the big mouth. She acts like a petulant child who isn't getting her way. Harlan is a quiet man who has volunteered to help the Tylers with their business problems. He and Sage are thrown together trying to develop and sell an irrigation system for the family business. I liked his relationship with the family but I don't know what he saw in Sage. My rating: 3 Stars.

A true Sandra Brown written to the formula of near soft-porn that has made her so popular! Pretty good story, pretty good character development. A fun read.
