Thanks to everyone who recommended Craig Johnson. I checked The Cold Dish out of the library and I don't want it to end. The writing and characters are just fantastic. Thanks again, I am one happy reader thanks to all of you!

I was going to post to the what are you reading thread when I saw your message, Ana.

I, too, have THE COLD DISH from the library and started it yesterday and I was going to thank whomever mentioned and recommended this author but you set up the thread already.

Unique setting, very unusual hero. I'm only on chapter 3-1/2 and enjoying it tremendously.

Aw heck! I give in. I just placed a request at the library.

Even though I have a 200+ TBR list and 3 books currently checked out of the library, I can't take it anymore. I have to see what all the fuss is about this book. LOL

Stopping in at the forums is usually a downfall for me. Huge TBR here but chatter about an author I'm not familiar with ALWAYS sends me to the library site to request his/her book. I discovered Tim Downs via the forums, one of my great finds of 2010. I think Johnson will be another one.

Gail, Tim Downs is a completely under appreciated suspense author and Nick,  I just want to give a big hug to. I love CJ writing and can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

Ellie, Tim Downs character is Nick Polchak, an entomologist that thinks he isn't apart of the human race as much as he is apart of his buggy friends. TDs books are CSI like in nature, but with Nick wise crackin' comebacks and his obliviousness to most human interaction, especially ladies, they have more than a few laughs as well as murder. I would start with Shoofly Pie as that was the first one.

I loved The Cold Dish so I stopped at the library and got the second one! I hope I have time to start in the next week.

Oh I have two of Johnson's books on my TBR, looks like they are going to have to move up the list!

Are Tim Down's books the one some people have referred to as Bug Man?

Oh, I think the Craig Johnson books will be a series that I will ALWAYS read the next one.  I tend to run out of interest about five books, but I just read Junkyard Dogs and it started out laugh out loud funny.  I don't think I'll ever get bored with this series.

Lucky day! While scouting for bargains at Goodwill about an hour ago, I spied the first four Bug Man books (three hardbacks; one paperback) languishing on the store's bookshelf! They are now resting on my TPR pile.

Squeee!!!! Anna,  I went to half-priced books today and they had two Craig Johnson's for a buck a piece.  Don't you love a good deal!

Does anybody know if these books have to be read in order?

I don't think you'd have to read the Craig Johnson ones in order...the mysteries don't really connect just the characters.  Some of the subtle character stuff is threaded through, but I think you'd be able tell most of it from what he says in the novels. Enjoy them!
