This is what the Help Centers says about accompanying media:

Books that originally came with accompanying media Materials: Yes IF the accompanying materials are included

  • A book with accompanying audiocassettes (for example) will earn 1 credit.
  • A book with accompanying cassettes or CDs is not an "audiobook".  An audiobook is a book read aloud by a narrator.
  • If the listing for the book indicates that the book comes with accompanying media materials (CD, VHS, cassette, DVD), all materials must be posted with the book.  If you do not have the accompanying materials, the book cannot be posted alone.
  • The accompanying media materials (without the book) also cannot be posted alone.

Your book has the line "and a CD recording for learning and pleasure that brings to life the music of Shabbat." so the media is required.

But the PBS RWAP do not quite fit.

Yes, a book send without accompanying media is a Problem swap and you would mark it Damaged by Sender. From the Help Center:

Select the type of problem from the dropdown menu:

It is completely up to you on whether to ask for the credit back. Typically I will ask for my credit back if I have to order the book again to get a copy I want. Asking when it is obvious something shouldn't have been posted also discourages people who might be posting things they know they shouldn't just to get the credit and hope people don't ask. It sounds obvious he did not look over the book very carefully before posting.

If you think you can use the book as is, then you may decide you don't want to ask for the credit back, you are within your rights to ask and it is totally up to you.

Not sure if I should ask for my credit to be returned or just wish list this book again (it will probably take a long time to get filled).

If you RWAP the book, you will automatically be placed back in the Wish List line for the book at your previous spot (so you won't be at the end of the line).

I generally ask for my credit back in all cases where I am going to request the book again.

Funny, I looked up your book ID, because I thought I might have been the poster.

But I remembered I went and found the CD before mailing.  Really, my CDs and books end up on opposite sides of my house.  PM them and ask nicely.  If they no longer have the CD, ask yourself how important the CD is to that book.  YMMV whether it's enough to get your credit back.

Sean - yes, I did contact sender and he said he didn't realize the book had a CD with it... I'm okay with that answer although the description says there is a CD with it and there is a CD envelope thingie in th back of the book.

You might be OK with the answer, but there is another way to look at this issue ... and that is that the sender must be more careful to look over books before they are posted and mailed.

I think I'm ready to mark "RWAP" b/c I want to get my spot back in line.

So, I think what you are saying is that the copy of the book you received is not usable to you because you wanted the CD. You should not be out the credit, IMO. If I was you, I would explain to the sender that you are requesting another copy of the book, and you would like a refund of your credit because you need the CD to use the book.

It is the sender's responsibility to check over their books, and to be aware of the site rules. And to refund credits if they make a mistake. Even if they are nice people. In fact, if they are a nice person, they would want to fix their mistake.

Most books that come with a music CD are "usable", that is that you are able to read the book.  But, the point is that PBS rules say accompanying materials must be included if those materials are listed as coming with the book. I would "want" the CD too if I made it a point to order a book that is supposed to come with one.
