I picked this up after really enjoying When She Said I Do in this series. It was a steamy retelling of Beauty and the Beast which I do recommend. This book was a disappointment for me because so much of it was sad. I know there has to be something for the leads to overcome before the happily ever after, but I felt like this book spent too much time on all that was keeping them (and several other secondary character couples) apart and not enough on the happiness and excitement of new love.
