This is one of my very favorite series. Having said that, I was a little disappointed with the ending of this book. Somehow it just didn't seem to fit with the very solid story. To me it seemed as if the author just couldn't quite figure out how to bring this to a satisfactory conclusion. I did enjoy the book and I know from reading other reviews of this book that most of you don't agree with me. But that's what makes horse races, I guess. It certainly won't keep me from reading more in this series.

When Torie's boss and mentor Sylvia dies at the ripe old age of 102, Torie fears foul play may have been involved. Sylvia's earlier complaints of mysterious noises and appearances at the foot of her bed in the Gaheimer house before her death only help to fuel Torie's fears. Now while Torie is going through Sylvia's belongings and papers at the Gaheimer house, the noises start disturbing her. Torie pulls out all stops to find out who is behind them before she or her family are harmed. Torie again relies on her step-father sheriff to help her out of the troubles that are inflicted on her so soon after her inheritance from Sylvia's death.
