I read this book in one day. I thought the characters were well written & strong in their own ways. The plot was engrossing, I couldn't stop reading it. I definitely recommend this book.

This book is about a pair of siblings. They have an inherited magical ability that makes them outcasts everywhere in the world. However in their own country it is particularly persecuted. One day their family is found out and forever torn apart. The siblings are trying to make it on the fringes of society. They have been taught from birth that they are bad and inherently wrong. It is a story of redemption.

I wasn't sure how much I was going to like this book until I picked it up. Once I did I found I couldn't put it down.

Melke, the woman sibling, is the main character. I sympathized with her and wanted her very badly to win. All in all, good stuff. A great read.

I found this book to be a strange combination of sweetness and horror. The relationship between the thief and her victim, both forced to desperate measures in an attempt to save loved ones, is a bit predictable but still sweet. The elements of intense sexual violence, however, were horribly jarring. There just was no going back to the romance for me after that, I simply wanted the book to end.

Well written, she brought me to care for the characters. The story is compelling and also has depth both emotionally & intellectually.

The world that she has developed shows great potential for further exploration and I hope she continues to do so.
