(Hit the button too soon)!

After reading The Desperate Remedy I discovered that Martin Stephen has written 3 subsequent novels about Henry Gresham. I have to say that this character is the James Bond of the 17th century ( he's into spying) and he sounds fabulous! So, in flagrant disregard of the biggest loser challenge, I ordered one more of these books and I won't be surprised if I scrounge around to find the other two!!

Yeah, I know Genie - your heart is in the right place! devil

Vicky - the book I read is great ( The Desperate Remedy). I almost feel as hooked on Martin as I am on Sansom. Would like that next book I've ordered to make sure that his writing remains this good!  The Gresham character has all the right stuff - good looks, great bod, very intelligent, chivalrous, mercenary when needed and he has MONEY!!!

Yay, this is a book I already have so I don't have to get it! Gresham sounds like the perfect man. ;-)

I shouldn't ask, I know I shouldn't...who's Sansom?

and he has MONEY!!! .... a definite plus!  Most of our favorite hunks are poor orphans, second or third sons or otherwise low-born when we meet them.

Oh Vicky, I hope that you have read some of C J Sansom's books about Matthew Shardlake: Dissolution, Dark Fire, Sovereign, etc! If you haven't you don't know what you're missing!!sad

Ah, Christa, Gresham has money, looks, charm, smarts - yeah, all the right stuff!!

And Valli - good thing you have this book because now you don't have to acquire another one!

Gee, thanks a lot, Jeanne. You know I can't resist historical hunks -- but couldn't you have found one that my library has? Oh, no -- of course not. So now I'm gonna have to WL these -- and you will be responsible for my losing the Book Loser challenge. (On the other hand, I could buy these within the next couple weeks -- i.e. BEFORE Feb. 1 -- and then read them and post them to others' WLs after Feb. 1 -- hhmmmm, that's an idea!)

OK Jeanne,

I have The Desperate Remedy by Martin Stephen on hold at the library. Sounds good.

I guess I better start looking for the next 3.

Oh no! What am I gonna do if you folks all HATE this book? Please be sure that you just start with the first one - Desperate Remedy and then see what you think - PLEASE!!!

BTW Deb, my library doesn't have these either. Fetchbook didn't come back with anything. The only place I found them was at Amazon and ONE (the last one) at book depository! Cheer up though Deb, you and I will probably go down in flames on the biggest book loser challenge TOGETHER!

Vicky - you absolutely have to try the Matthew Shardlake series by Sansom at some time!

I knew I shouldn't have peeked in here. I just cancelled a spontaneous book request I had no recollection of placing. Now I come here and find all of this talk of other yummy, must read books. I must stay strong!

BTW, what's the prize for the biggest loser book challenge? Books? LOL

Jeanne -- this is undoubtedly true -- and I think as we go down, we should pull as many others down with us -- you know, the more, the merrier!?!devil

Yes, Vicky -- you should read  these books. Unfortunately, none are available through PBS at this time, so you'll have to put all five of them on your WL -- undoubtedly, someone will post them to you...oh...after a couple weeks...oh, gee, is that after the Feb. 1 Biggest Book Loser Challenge starts? What a shame.
