I just spent a few minutes looking to see if this topic has been covered here recently and i don't see it. I know on a lot of forums, someone always posts and says "this has been covered a million times". I want to ask to be sure. My used bookstore stamps the top or side (where the pages are) of all of their books with their name and address. Is a book with this stamp acceptable to send to someone on PBS?

Yes.  Libraries also do this.  It cannot cover text pages.  Remainder marks are also acceptable.

You can also clean the page edges with a piece of fine sand paper.

From help:

  • Decirculated library books may have various markings and/or stamps inside or outside or on the page edges of the book; this is OKAY.  These may not obscure text.
  • BookCrossing books may have stickers or stamps or markings on the outside or inside covers or page edges of the book; this is OKAY. These may not obscure text.

Thank you - I thought it was OK but just wanted to double-check.

Yes Stacey, UBS stamps should be fine (unless RC'd).
