Tell your DD her social life will be *better* as a HS'er.  As long as you're in a decent-sized city, or have access to one, you'll probably find that there are *too many* things to do.  Her relationships will be better, deeper, and with a group of kids she may see at different activites.  Of course if your friend will be the teacher, and they don't "go out" much, then that may put a damper on things.  But here we have a choice for at least one HS (or community) activity morning, noon, & night every day of the week.  There's so much to do we have to put strict limits on activities so we won't overdo.

My son has always been HS'ed, other than a one-year public school preschool.  His sister has always been in PS.  He says her school is like a prison.  At home he can learn the way he learns best, have a flexible schedule, and have loads of extra time after "school"work is done to do independent, self-directed study.  He has a mix of textbook, A/V, hands-on and online courses.
