When a accident left him near death, the PAX League saved Riley's Tremaine's life...by transforming him into a terrorism fighting superagent with a special gift for sight. To protect the future, Riley cut all ties with his past-and said goodbye to the woman he loved, anthropologist Nia Phillips.
A year later, when Nina called him in distress, the secrect that destroyed their relationship could be the only thing to save her from the frightening plot of a madman. In a race to recover a missing artifact, Riley and Nina would have to believe the unbelieveable and trust in a love they'd thought lost forever--or the world would pay the ultimate price.
This book has more of the paranormal aspect than the first PAX book. There really was not much linking the two books other than the agency. No real character crossover to speak of.
The story is mostly adventure and repairing romance. In that it is very similar to the first - run from the bad guys and figure out the relationship. I liked this one a bit more than "The Beast Within", but was still glad I read them in order even though they very much stand on their own.
