Hello all!

I am new here and just wanted to say hi!  This is my favorite genre and I am actually a newbie to it.  My sister got me started by giving me a box of books for christmas that she likes.  It contained most of the Anita Blake series, ( the ones missing she says that I don't need to read, but I am kinda picky about reading the WHOLE series),  Sherrilyn Kenyon I don't know which series or if it's different books for different ones.  She said there are different hunter series or something.  The Kitty books.  I loved those and am eagerly awaiting the new one! a book containing the first three sookie stackhouse books, love those also.  I also love MaryJanice Davidsons Undead series. Oh and I also got about four Kim Harrison books.  Hmmm...oh and a new Sandra Hill book Rough and Ready.  Her books are always so funny.  I am currently trying to get I'm the vampire that's why from this site (my first book request on here).  Been a couple days and hoping to hear if I get it.  I have the second book and not the first!

So are there other ones like this that I shouldn't miss?  I am so excited to get to swapping!  The books on my bookshelf right now are some my mother bought me that I wasn't too fond of.  A few I loved though.

Well enough rambling and I hope to get to know you all!

one comment about the Anita Blake series - after the first nine books, the series kind of shifts focus a bit.  so if you like the first one, definitely read all of the first nine and in order.  after that, some people have lost interest in the series due to the focus shift.  i don't know which ones you're missing, but if it's the later books, they are a little different.  i still like the series, but i definitely keep the parts separate in my head.  (and still read in order though.)

here's another thread filled with lots of suggestions for another person new to the genre: http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=104275  lots of good stuff there!

Katie MacAlister's vampire series- starts with a girl's guide to vampires, and her Aisling Grey series- involves dragons and portals to hell, etc. They are pretty funny too.  Stephanie Rowe and Kimberley Rae are also on the funnier side.  Julie Kenner wrote a series about superheroes, all the titles start with Aprodite's_____.  Have fun, I think this genre is a blast !  Also, if you are into were creatures Lori Handeland's series- starts with Blue Moon.

Jim Butchers Dresden File series. Hands down the best book I read last year was Storm Front (book one.) Speaking of Charlaine Harris she has 3 other series. The Grave series, The Aurora Teagarden mysteries and the Lily Bard Mysteries. The last two arent paranormal but so far I havent found anything by her I dont like.

Christine Warren's "The Other" series and Lora Leigh "Breeds".  You also gotta love Angela Knight's "Mage" series.  So many books and so little time to read!!  Have a great week-end.

I agree with both JR Ward and Patricia Briggs.  Both are very good series.  JR Ward, especially, if you like big strong manly men (which I very much do).
