Robert Kincaid is one of my all-time favorite characters. Books as simple and elegant as this are very rare.

I was reminded again, by reading the intro to Bridges of Madison County, that there are actual facts in both of these stories with some creative license to fill in the blanks. These were real people, in spite of what some reviews on the internet say. One only has to read the intro to understand. Robert's story was a wandering kind of story - a hit and miss with a few connections to the past along the way. In this story you get to know Robert Kincaid in a deeper and greater way than when he's attached to Franny's story. You see the seriousness of his work and the nomadic way he lived his life. We see his reclusiveness and wonder then how he was so able to open up to Franny the way he did. We also see he had a story of his own to discover - a past he thought was gone and a future worth finding. Did he find it? Have fun finding out!
