Published in 1956. Parker makes history fascinating. In May 1564 three men sailed from Le Havre, France for that almost mythical place called Florida. The story is narrated by one of these, a young apprentice to a printer, who by day printed normal things and by night illegally printed Bibles. In those days France was a vastly dangerous place to print Bibles. That's how this apprentices family had died. And so our young man runs and finds adventure among Indians, alligators, and brave but dangerously adventurous men.
