Can you suggest thrillers that also have romance in them?

Does PBS need to add a new genre or is there already one that I don't recognize?

Hi Jean,

You might want to post this request in the Romance forum, as well. A lot of the series romance writers have moved on to romantic suspense and they're excellent writers. I can come up with a bunch of authors, but the ladies on that forum read authors I haven't discovered yet. You'll have recommendations coming out of your ears.

Some I can recommend are Elizabeth Lowell, Carla Cassidy, JoAnn Ross, Lisa Jackson, Lisa Gardner (though I'm not sure how much 'romance' she has as I haven't read her in years). If I find more authors I'll post them - but do ask over at the other forum. You'll be glad you did.

Kate White's Bailey Weggins series probably falls into this category.  I think there are 5 or 6 stand alone books.

On your browser page (when you first log in), you can customize what shows up for genres.   The default is "recently posted" books.   Mine is set up to show Romantic Suspense.    Its a subgenre of Romance.

Hope that helps.

I'm not a romance reader and in general, I don't need romance with my mysteries but I have to admit that the relationship between Russ Van Alstyne and Clare Fergusson in Julia Spencer-Flemings books is one of the reasons I continue with the series.  Good stuff.

You might want to try Jayne Ann Krentz and Amanda Quick--they are the same person but the first is comtemporary and the the second is historical. They are both romantic suspense. I enjoy her writing(esp the historicals), after awhile, some of her books/plotlines seem a bit redundant but the writing is always well done anyway.

I would try Cindy Gerard...her Black Ops books are really suspensful and have tons of romance.

Catherine Coulter's FBI series is pretty good.  Just don't listen to them.  lol  The readers for the two books I've listened to were awful.

Melanie you beat me - I was going to suggest Coulter, too!  Well, that's two votes for the FBI series.  :D

There are a number of authors I've found who write mystery/thrillers with some romance - versus romance with some suspense lol.

My favorites are

  • Linda Castillo
  • Mariah Stewart
  • Allison Brennan
  • Carlene Thompson
  • Lisa Scottoline
  • Laura Griffin
  • Tami Hoag (I really liked the Kovac/Liska series)
  • Jordan Dane

I went to my bookseller yesterday and picked up the first 3 Black Ops titles (used). Though I've read some of her category romances in the past I never bought any of her "big books" as I was trying to cut down on new book purchases. They look good!

Shannon McKenna, Shannon Butcher, Cherry Adair, Gennita Low, Anne Stuart, Marliss Melton, some Linda Lael Miller and Julie Garwood, Jo Ann Ross, Stella Cameron.

The genre you want is Romantic Suspense.  I don't know if PBS has that as a category though.

I also suggest you post this in the Love/Romance board. There's a lot of RS fans there.

I Strongly recommend Catherine Coulter's FBI Series.  I have read them all and cannot wait for her to write another.

I like Brenda Novak's "Last Stand" books--mystery/thrillers with a lot of romance thrown in.
