Hey ya'll,

I've had this book on my TBR for a few weeks and finally decided to pick it up about 2 weeks ago.  I've yet to be able to finish it.  In fact, I'm still only about 1/2 way through.  This is from a woman that can read one or more books a day, depending on the book.  I'm a little bummed about this because Walker is one of my favorite authors and I can't understand why I can't get into the book.  I don't really dislike the characters, I guess I just find it VERY predictable and find that the characters are not pushing me to finish their stories to find out about the HEA.

Is it just me?  Am I in a slump maybe?  What did everyone else think about the book?

Heather

I'm not really sure why I can't get excited about this book.  I don't dislike it, it just doesn't thrill me like her other stuff does.  I am finding it very formulaic, but then again, most paranormals now adays are, so that doesn't really bother me.  Maybe it's just all the back story build up that I don't really care for.  Also the storyline is very choppy, shifting from his perspective to hers, to the villains, to some other secondary characters on another world that I can't figure out yet.

I guess the single biggest reason for me no liking this story right now, is that I just really don't care about the characters.  They don't have the same kind of pizazz that most of Walker's characters have.  And the H's world weary fatalism is very tiring.  I also don't find this h as strong and spunky as many of Walkers others.  Maybe it will get better, but I think it may still take me at least another 2 weeks or more to finish the book as I don't seem to be able to read more than a couple of chapters at a time before getting distracted by other things.  I have even reread a couple of my very old keeper books while trying to get through this.  Something I never do when I have a new book.

I just picked this one up yesterday and was going to start on it today.  I'm really hoping it's good.  I bought it new :(
