This memoir of a woman who accompanied her archaeologist husband on Central and South American digs in the 1940s tries to be light-hearted and humorous, but mostly what comes through is her disdain for the native peoples, along with such whopping booboos as saying that the seasons in Guatemala (which is north of the Equator by a considerable distance) are "reversed" from North America's.
