Payne Harrison writes this from the perspective of both sides as they are racing toward new technology to save an oil-starved 21st century. The technowar is compelling at times, other times frightening. I think once you read one of Harrison's books, you'll be wanting more. I couldn't put it down when I first read it. It's a different style but highly addictive!

Great potential WWIII book. The US finds a rare mineral at the South Pole and the Soviets need it. War breaks out in Antartica. The story follows submarine crews, fighter pilots, scientists, and military units toward an explosive finish.
