Does anyone else do this?

I prefer that the books that I receive from PBS  be paperbacks.  99% of them I repost and I like the cost of shipping a PB better that the cost of shipping a HB.  Call me crazy. (If it is a favorite author that I collect, I buy my own HB in first edition and it never gets posted.)

Anynow, when I hear of a new author or a new book in a series that I have to have, I immediately post it to my WL.  Invariably, the only version available is HB and I am usually number 187 on the WL.  Every few weeks, I go through my list and search for HBs.  When I find one, I head to Amazon to see if a PB is available (or soon to be available) and if it is, I copy the ISBN into the search engine here and add that version to my list.  Usually, I move WAY up in the list for the PB version.  I also feel like I'm doing a favor to all those HB wishers by taking my name off the list and moving them all up a notch.

I just converted EIGHT HB versions to PB versions and moved way up on all of the lists.  Woohooo!! :)

I would rather get the pb's also, and when I can spare the time, I go thru and make the conversion from hb to pb.  Sometimes I think I have to have something quickly and then kind of forget about it, notice it and then either move to my reminder list or change to pb, realizing that I apparently can wait!  It may take longer to get a book, but really........it would sit on my bookshelf for awhile anyway!  We've got it rough, don't we?

LeeAnne, woman, you're just an over acheiver. lol!

I rarely keep a hardback on my WL.  I just don't like mailing them.  I have to take it to the post office and give it to a person.  It annoys me.

These days the only books on my WL are ones that I can't purchase for my Kindle.

I do that quite often too. Depending on the book, I will even delete the HB version if I am #1 on the WL! LOL There are a few that I want to increase my chances of getting--some of those that rarely get posted--so I have a couple versions listed and keep the old fingers crossed on those.

My wishlist changes constantly and I'm usually doing a thorough perusal of it at least a couple times a week, deleting some, adding others. I love it when I get 5 requests in a couple days' time and have to actually scramble to fill the spots. LOL

Melani, you like the Kindle, huh? I just can't imagine having one--I work at a computer all day long and do a lot of other work on computer from home, so have to look at electronic text all day. Nothing gives me more pleasure than sitting down with a real book. I like how they feel and smell, too. I guess I'm a Luddite in some ways. Then again, I never thought I'd like audiobooks either, and have gotten totally hooked on those over the past couple of years. Maybe one day I will get a Kindle. (Don't hold your breath though! LOL)

Yeah, that.  Ha! :D (Well, except for the audiobook thing.  I haven't gotten there.  I am Luddite Extraordinaire!)

I'm a Luddite Extraordianaire too!  I'm not into audiobooks or a kindle.  I have heard/read that Kindle 2 has an audio feature so Cheryl maybe you'll be getting one sooner than you think...lol.

LeeAnne, I would rather have mmpb and do the same.  I went through my WL and got "rid" of the HB's like you.  Went to Amazon and got the ISBN;s for the mmpb.  I moved from being waaaay down on the list to #1.  Of course the mmpb isn't coming out until December but, I'm #1 on the list when it's posted.

I like the audiobooks because I don't have to *stop* reading when I do things like cook, clean, and other mindless tasks. My apartment is a lot cleaner than it used to be--because I'd use the excuse "I have to finish this book first, THEN I'll clean the bathroom!" Now I can just tuck my MP3 player into my jeans pocket and carry on WHILE I clean the bathroom. :)
