I have a request that has timed out.  I checked to see if it was on my wish list, but it wasn't -- just in my transaction archive.  When I went to put it on my wish list, I couldn't -- it was either ORDER it or POST it.  So I ordered it and it says I already ordered the book, but it processed the request.

So apparently the person who didn't respond to the request is the only one to have it posted.

I don't really see the point in ordering from this person again, but I can't put the book on my wish list.

Any ideas?

I think if you put it on your reminder list, it could at least tell you if there is only one copy in the system or not.

If you order a book from someone and they don't respond within five days (up to six depending on when you placed the order), there will be a notation on your transaction archive that "no answser from sender after alloted time" and then the book will be removed from that person's bookshelf.  So, if you tried to order it, check your transaction archive and you should see it there if the request timed out.  Then it would move on to the next person who has the book.  After that, if the book isn't available, it should be able to be put on your wish list.  Is it possible you cancelled the request before the alloted time for a member to respond?

I'm sure I didn't cancel it.

Now that I'm checking the profiles (doh) it is from a different person, but now I'm wondering why the book wasn't moved to my wish list.  I just happened to be going through my transaction archive and checking on some things, pulled it up, and this guy might have posted the book just today (he's got others he's posted today).

Well, hopefully he'll send it.  :-)

It wasn't moved to your WL because they offered the request to another person.  If it goes through everyone, then it'll put the book on your RL. You would have to put it on your WL.  It'll only put a book on your WL if it was a WL book to begin with and then timed out after being posted.  This system will automatically give the request to the next person in line.  Put the book on your RL to see how many are in the system.

It wasn't offered to the next person.  It basically disappeared.  It wasn't on my RL and it wasn't on my WL.  I went to the transaction archive because the first request had timed out and clicked on the title to pull of the information screen to see *where* it was, because I couldn't find it just by looking at the lists.  When you pull up the book information screen, it will tell you if the book is in your transaction archive, RL or WL.

When I did this, I noticed it said "order this book" -- so I did!  When I ordered the book there was a big red warning that said I had already ordered the book, but THAT transaction was cancelled because the sender never responded.

My point is if I *hadn't* gone digging around, I might not have found the available book because it was basically dropped from everything but my transaction archive, where the cancellation was located.

Hmm.  It should have put it on your RL if it didn't pass the request on to another person.  You could try contacting PBS and asking why it's not letting you order this book.  It could be a glitch.
