As a Vonnegut addict, I ADORE this book and don't feel completely comfortable if it's more than 5 feet away from me. However, don't make this the first KV book you read - much of it is the author rambling (in his typically insightful and hilarious way) and the uninitiated reader may be put off by the scattered storyline. The text in its entirety is MUCH more meaningful if you're already familiar with some of his other works.

Perfect for Vonnegut fans with his wry humor and statements that many of us may think privately, yet not express publicly. Controversial or just openly self-expressive?

Originally published in 1997. Paperback edition published in August 1998. At 2:27 pm on February 13th of the year 2001, the universe suffered a crisis in self-confidence. Should it go on expanding indefinitely? What was the point?
Scraps of a story featuring sci-fi writer Kilgore Trout dealing with a timequake (when a glitch in the time-space continuum made everybody and everything do exactly what they'd done during the past decade, for good or ill, a second time) intertwined with Vonnegut's reminiscences and opinions on a world gone insane.

I love Vonnegut... but this was not one of my favorites. A little too rambling, not enough plot (I don't need much, really!) As others have said - Don't make it your first Vonnegut read. It's for die-hard fans only, really.
