Times We Had Author:Marion Davies The was the unofficial empress of Hollywood and she spent a lifetime as the mistress of one of America's richest men. Gathered from tapes recorded a decade before Marion Davie's death, read, in her own words, the story of a fantastic and glittering life, as never told before.
What a fascinating book! I hated to put it down as every page had me interested. The names, the dates, the parties, the trips! Oh what a life they led. However, it was very obvious that Mr. Hearst was a jealous, possessive man who through trying to give her everything he thought she deserved was actually holding her back from her full potential. Marion Davies could have been a huge movie star as a commedienne, but instead everyone only remembers her as Mr. Hearst's mistress, if they know her name at all.
It was a fascinating look at the kind of life you could lead in the 20's and 30's with the right connections and a nealy unlimited amount of money.
