This was a request that came down from a cohort and it sounded interesting enough that I'd like to read it.  But we've received no responses to a title yet.  Any takers?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a patron looking for a book she read. She believes it was fiction but
it could be nonfiction. It's about a group of older men who meet at McDonald's
every day for breakfast. They call themselves "The Board". One gentleman
regularly orders an Egg McMuffin with sausage and removes the sausage and
wraps it in a napkin. The other men wonder why he does this and it is later
revealed that he knows a boy in a wheelchair and he gives the sausage to the
boy's dog.
Also a redbud tree has some significance to the story.

There are enough quirky details here that I hope someone remembers this one.

Thanks in advance,

Shannon

Do you have any more info about the setting or plot?...no matter how I search I'm getting nothing...  well not nothing...but nothng that pertains to the info. An approximate decade when it was published would help too.

No, sorry.  That is all the information that was given.  And since the request came down from another library, it's not even something I can ask the patron about.

I thought the quirky plot info would be easy to find but I came up with a blank too.  I just hoped someone on here would read it and think, "Hey, I just read this book.  Great book!" and then spill the title and author.

Thanks,

Shannon

LOL Yes sometimes that happens Shannon!

I keep thinking "Grumpy Old Men" but I've never seen the movie and not sure if it was a book first.

Well, I found this...  http://www.amazon.com/Grumpy-Old-Men-David-Quantick/dp/0007189931/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218543032&sr=1-2

And this one...http://www.amazon.com/Grumpy-Old-Men-Chronicle-Terminally/dp/0563539232/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218543159&sr=1-12

Unless the book Grumpy Old Men is significantly different from the movie, that's not it.  There are only two grumpy old men in the movie version and I don't remember a McDonald's being mentioned.  Hysterical movie, btw.

The second book you listed looks like a good read, April.  I'll have to check that one out.

I've been asking around about this myself and so far no one has come up with an answer.  One of my friends is sure she's read it, but can't remember the title either.  We'll keep working on it. :-)
