I posted a WL book (with one wisher) and got this RC:

No books with excessive creasing to the spine or covers, please.

Now, I was a little worried because the cover did have a small crease. But the paperback was a trade size and the cover was very thick and glossy and was in no danger or ripping, tearing, or falling off. It wasn't excessive so I sent it, holding my breath and prepared to return the credit if the requestor didn't like it. But they got ths book and didn't have a problem, so yay.

I just really liked the book but didn't think I would read it again so I'm glad someone else has it now. :) And I have a credit so I can request another book. :D

A "small crease" can not be considered "excessive creasing" ....

Sheila, one would think not, but that sounds pretty subjective to me, and the receiver could have felt differently.

Elizabeth, glad it worked out :)

I just had a WL with a request about smoking, but I had picked the book up from a book fare.  I approved it and them PM'd the requester to let her know I thought it smelled like a paperback book, but I couldn't say for sure.  I know some of the smoking issues are just don't want it to overwhelm, but others are serious allergy issues or sensitive noses.  She responded that it would be fine, I sent it out and I have a record that I shared the info.  It worked for me.  I'm glad you got your credit.  Use it wisely :)

I've never had a problem with any of my books as far as other people's conditions go.  I've only had to turn down one or two....one was a smoking condition and I had just bought the book a few days prior at the UBS, so I couldn't be sure that it didn't come a smoking home, and the person's conditions stated that they had a lot of allergies, so I opted on the side of caution, even though we don't smoke.  The other was a dustjacket condition, I think.  Thankfully, I've never had any really demanding or over the top conditions to make me worry.  Knock on wood, I've never had a complaint with any of the books I've sent out that they didn't meet the RCs.  I think most RCs are pretty straightforward and reasonable.
