I received a PM from someone who had one of my WL's books.

We had bad weather here in Michigan so I wasn't online. My WL is on autorequest. Bright and early this morning I saw that at about 7:15 pm yesterday the book was posted. At about 9:15 pm it was accepted, 9:15 pm label printed and marked mailed at 9:17 pm. No problem there.

Today I've been away from the computer until now and found that I had a PM from the sender.

Apparently she wants to cancel the request:

How do I get my book back on my bookshelf?

I haven't written to her - if it's in the mail she'll have to wait until I receive it. I guess I should PM her and see what she's done.

If she has mailed it and I receive it I mark it received and I can keep it if I want to be nasty about it. I can say sure I'll send it back I want my credit and another for returning it. I know those are the rules and that almost seems nasty. I could be Ms Nice Person and say oh dear you made a boo boo, I'll just send your book back to you and I'm out what amounts to two credit right?

I am not a Tour Guide, but I think if she's mailed it, it is too late, wouldn't you think? Otherwise, as I understand it, if she cancels, you regain your place in the WL.

If she's mailed it, then you do not have to return it to her at all.  It is your book then.

If she's marked it mailed but has not mailed it and does not want to mail it, she needs to use the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page to tell the PBS team she marked the book as mailed in error and ask that they go in and cancel the request for her since she won't be mailing the book.  Otherwise, it'll eventually go lost in the mail to you and you'll get back on the WL as #1.  That'll take like 3 weeks though so I'd stay on her to contact PBS about it so you get back on the WL ASAP for another copy.

Sarah is correct on both counts.  Once you receive the book it is yours - and whether or not you post the book back to her when you are finished reading it, is up to you.

Also, if need immediate help from a TG, Click on Help Center and scroll down to Live Help and send a PM to one of us and we can help you out.

Thanks eveybody!  That's what I thought but I think my brain is water logged from the rain we had yesterday so I just wasn't sure!

Mary, believe it or not I went blank looking for a Tour Guide.  I never considered Live Help - jeez!!!

If it has been mailed, Geri, I'd just offer to post it back to her WL (she'll have to put it on her WL) after you've read it.  That seems fair.  Unless you wanted it as a keeper:P

Kim, I thought of that too.  What to do, what to do?  I've contacted the Team and told them I don't really have a problem with it being cancelled.  I know someone who is reading the book and will be posting it as we speak...lol.

In addition to Live Help, you should have a personal Tour Guide assigned to you -- check your Personal Messages tab, in the upper left of that page.

Cheers,
Catt

::cough:: Um, I hope it isn't me -- my account is on hold while I finish up the PBS Cookbook :-)

Cheers,

Catt,

Nope, the e-mail I received is like a vacation e-mail something about being away from the computer find another, but didn't tell me where to look and at the time my mind was blank.  Where in the world do I look for an alternate tour guide?  I did find one and my question was answered.  A couple of people have told me where to look for an alternate too, nicely.  Which I knew but at the time was DUH!  My mind was so blank I couldn't even remember where to find my own tour guide at first.how pathetic is that?

I bet the book's not actually been mailed, only marked as such.
