I'm sending two books as a 2:1 deal, and was wondering if there was a way to track the second (free) book in the system, rather than deleting it from my shelf and having the receiver add it to hers again.

For the footprint history, etc.  Actually, when I'm on the receiving end of a deal I like to know where my books have been, just for the fun of it.

Another way to go about the deal which will preserve the footprint history is to have the receiver use the "Order More from this Member" for the second "deal" book -- so officially it is two book orders -- and the person offering the deal buddy back a credit.

Just an idea.

And not that I wouldn't keep my end of the bargain, but I'd feel awkward asking a stranger to pony up a credit, even if they'll get it back right away.  But that idea would work I suppose.

maybe you can buddy them the credit before they order it from your shelf.  If that person is short on credits that might work better for them.  Just pm them 1st & see if they mind, shouldn't be a big deal.

You could use the "Mail to a friend" option. This type of transaction does not require a credit to change hands but keeps the footprint history going.

I just used this on another deal - the system recognized that I was sending all the books as a package and offered to reprint my wrapper.

I like it!!

I am currently running a 3 for 2 deal and ask that they order all 3 books and as soon as I mail them then I give them back a credit.

This keeps the books in the PBS system for tracking, footprint etc but also means I don't have to remember to remove a book from my bookshelf and possibly disappoint another member who may request it.

It does require good will on both sides but so far, I've had no problems.  In one case a person only had 2 credits so once they ordered 2 books I gave them a credit so as hey could order a 3rd.

Didn't think of the 'Mail to a Friend' option.
