From the back cover - A midnight phone call. An unfamiliar voice. Chilling words: "Your son Scott is missing." When detectives visit Scott's apartment they discover bloodstains on the floor, walls, even the ceiling...

Finished 'Trail of Blood' by Wanda Evans & James Dunn, about the fight to get prosecution and conviction after Mr. Dunn's son's murder. Took 7 1/2 yrs to get the folks to trial. I found it pretty well-written, but not the top of true crime genre. It's a 'conviction without a body' case and definitely taught me more about blood evidence and science. Some spots became a bit dry, and there is considerable repetition. However, the way the case spun out left the authors not much choice except to repeat the lies and evasions spun by the young male victim's scheming girlfriend. I found it left me with a creepy urge to keep very close to family members and know what is going on in their lives as Mr. Dunn had no clue this girl even existed until she called with the first of her carefully plotted contacts.
