Why when an item is cancelled, doesn't it say by whom?  I have had two books I requested this week cancelled by person who offfered books, but under details it just says 'cancelled' and the date so I don't actually have an accurate record of who cancelled the order, nor the reason.  If book didn't meet my RC would it say so under 'details'?

If you hover over the X on your Transaction History it will show. I only tested 2 (that I knew the reasons for) and it gave different text for:

  • Request canceled by sender
  • Wish List Book not accepted by wishing member

Jeanne, I think you have been experiencing some weirdness with your ipad lately.  The update I did sure changed things for me on the ipad.  Renee is correct about hovering over the red X or green check but the hover no longer works on my ipad.  Click on the Red X and it will give you a small box with who cancelled etc.  I have never used " not now" so I don't know what the exact phrase is for that one.

If the sender canceled because the book didn't meet your RC, then it wouldn't appear in your transaction archive at all. This is to prevent members from trying to contact others who have chosen not to send a book due to RCs.

ok, so think I weaned out a couple inactive members in the past week.

Thanks, Renee, the 'hovering' works on my laptop.

This morning I had to go to my 'credit registry' tab to discover why a book disappeared from my 'books you have requested' tab.  It said book doesn't meet RC, but I couldn't find that info anywhere else.

This morning I had to go to my 'credit registry' tab to discover why a book disappeared from my 'books you have requested' tab.  It said book doesn't meet RC, but I couldn't find that info anywhere else.

You should have a message in your club communications and email explaining whether you were put on the wish list or reminder list for the book.

If a book is declined for requestor conditions, then here's what happens:

system checks to see if there are other copies available

if there are other copies:

  • your request is passed on to a new sender and you see the new request on your My Account page
  • you are not notified by email
  • you can see the passed on request in your credit registry (I think in this case it doesn't mention requestor conditions, but I don't have one in my account to verify with)
  • cancelled transaction does not appear in your transaction archive

if there are no other copies

system checks to see if anyone is wishing for the book

if there is a wish list:

  • you are put on (or back on) the wish list based on the date of your previous wish or request
  • you are notified by email and in your club communications
  • you can see the cancelled request in your credit registry with the note that it's for requestor conditions
  • cancelled transaction does not appear in your transaction archive

if there is not a wish list:

  • the book is put on your reminder list
  • the other member's book stays posted and available for requesting, but you can only order it if you turn off your requestor conditions and you get there before anyone else orders it
  • you are notified by email and in your club communications
  • you can see the cancelled request in your credit registry with the note that it's for requestor conditions
  • cancelled transaction does not appear in your transaction archive

It seems like one of these last two cases happened, so if you don't have a message in club communications explaining which one it was, you should notify PBS so they can look into it.

So found the book on my reminder list :(  but got offered another in one of my fave  series so : ) again.    Got on site  today and discover the book from RL is being offered to me again...don't know if it is same sender or not.  It is still on my RL.

If a book offer has an RC and is turned down, then this will show up in your email, without the name of the member offering. RC offers do not go to the Transaction Archive.
