Oh, I've read some great YA, as have a lot of others here. Lois Lowry is very good, and her The Giver series is terrific. |

Thanks for letting me know. I think I have changed my way of thinking... |

I enjoyed the first book, but I haven't yet made it to the second. |

I like to read YA on occasion. They are nice because they tend to be relatively light, easy and quick reads. Plus I have a teenage daughter so I often read stuff before I let her read them. |

Yay! Sarah Porter is a beautiful writer (full disclosure: she's a friend IRL). I really enjoyed her books , but be warned - if you don't typically read YA, I think she's far better than most. I very rarely enjoy YA (including books by other friends to be honest) as I often find them to be simple to the point of dullness. YMMV. |

Now I just finished CHOMP Carl Hiaasen. I will have to read his earlier YA books now. And Charles, I will put Dancing on the Edge on my RL. |

I have recommended that book to several people. The ones who read it have all spoken highly of it. I didn't like The Giver much. I can see how it would be a good book for young people to read as it would lead to a lot of talk and discussion but the novel didn't work very well for me. |

I used to shy away from young adult books. Then about 6 months ago I randomly bought a book called "Numbers" by rachel ward. It totally changed my mind about YA books lol. Now I ve opened my options up to a whole new world of books lol. |
