I have no trouble with the kindle ebooks from the library but the epub ones are about to drive me to I dunno what..struggled with the last one - even deleted everything and reloaded the da*ned software and got new adobe authorization whatever and did the computer AND Nook and voila got the book. that's after the time before when I gave up and went to the old computer and did it...now neither will friggin' work - I have the adobe thingy authorized and the Nook authorized yet when the book downloads it pulls up the OTHER adobe reader thing that hooks Sony store and says 'not authorized' over and over and over.

I have the same problem on the one computer with Overdrive for audio - the update won't download that I have to get to through the 'tools' menu.

I'm not great with comptuers at all but this shouldn't be this danged hard. dont' think it'd dot his if the book would download to the right program..the other one has ebooks on it back from when I had the sony hooked up...

Susanna- there is an update coming for Overdrive on the 20th August.. I'd wait until then and see if that fixes that problem.

I've not used a Nook so can't help there but it seems like you need to remove the Sony store and other adobe reader.

I have no problem with library books on my Nook but my library uses 3MCloud which is an app.  I don't mess with Adobe and downloading them onto my computer.

I actually move mine from the computer's Adobe Digital Reader into Calibre, and then load my Nook (reader, not tablet) by USB.  I just got so frustrated with ADR and the lack of support or information.   Calibre has better sorting and very clear instructions.

That said, my library has one reference librarian that they send all the Overdrive set up questions to.

In 3 years, I've never had an issue using ADE. 4 different libraries. Don't know what to tell you.

I think the problem is where the book is downloading to.  You might need to change the preferences or downloading choice.  My OS asks me to confirm what folder I'm putting it in.  It sounds like yours is going to the Sony folder rather than the ADE folder.

What you need to do is delete overdrive from your computer,  look for the adobe AD and sony on your computer and remove those too.  If you use windows, then look in control panel- then Programs (might be listed as add/remove programs,  remove any Adobe digital editions . (you can leave flash). The scroll down and see if you have anything listed for Sony.

When I go to download an ebook from overdrive it too tells me WHERE do I want it saved.. I use windows 7.

To use Calibre, the book must go through ADE first, to unlock the DRM.  Putting it directly in Calibre does not work.
