So I have read all of the books, and I have watched all of the shows so far.  I have to admit, I have to just tell myself they are  2 different story lines because they are so different now.  However I still find myself getting the story lines crossed when I read  one of the  boosk  or watch the show.   I can't decide if I like  the fact that the show has diverged so much or not.

Opinions?

I like it. Because I don't know what to expect.

With movies, I usually read the book first. But then I am waiting for all the memorable scenes to happen. So, there is no element of surprise or discovery to it.

I've read the books and watched the shows so far.  I like that they're different because it allows for surprise.

I hafta say though, I hope the show takes a new direction this year.  I was not a huge fan of last year's "vampire authority" plot, so I was slightly bummed that it was the opener.  I know loose ends need to be tied up before the story moves on but....  Did anyone else think all the special effects they used last year (most in the vamp authority building) were a little too cheesy?

I watch True Blood but I don't love it. I liked the first season a lot, I think it went downhill after that. I really disliked the vampire authority plot line. Let's hope this season is better. I thought last week's episode was better than last year.

I agree Alice.  Well...it does look like the plot is heading in another direction.

Is it just me or do the episodes seem to be getting shorter?  I think it was about 3 minutes AFTER 9pm (eastern time here) that the show actually began and it ended with 6 minutes to spare.  I don't mind the recapping in the beginning.  I DO mind clips from OTHER shows taking up time.  LOL, I know other networks do this, but it's still annoying.

So I watched the episode last night 6/30. I won't give any spoilers but I think they are writing a lot better and deeper plot this year. There is hope for this series yet.

Sunday's episode was very well done. I am actually surprised TruBlood could make an episode as touching as they didn. I don't watn to go into details in case folks are behind in the series. It will make you teary eyed I can tell you.

I would definately say this is a better season than last.

Alice I was kind of bored watching sunday's episode.  While I was sad about the stuff going on it just didn't keep my interest.  I've felt that way through most of this season not sure why.  I'm really not a big fan of the Warlo plot line, Niall, and Bilith!

So how did you like the season finale? It is renewed for next year.  A naked Eric is always eye candy.

Sadly I was very disappointed in the season finale.  I'm assuming that it was written that way to wrap up the series nicely before they decided to renew it for another season.  Then once renewed they left it, otherwise I have no clue what was up with that finale.  It was all to nice and clean and easy for my liking.  It seemed the only loose end was Eric, well that and what would happen to the people at the very end.  This season seemed too much about making the characters happy and tying up loose ends for the series.  I didn't really care for the plot line that much and I'm not sure I really want to watch next season.

What did you think Alice?

And yes naked Eric is always Eye Candy.  I read the other day online that he is Dating Ellen Page (from Juno) in real life.  They look a little goofy in pictures since he's so huge and she so small.  Oh what I might give to be her!   : D

Elizabeth I thought it was the series finally, but it is renewed for next year. The finally was okay not great. Series was much better in the first two seasons although I thought this season was much better than last season. I hope they don't kill off Eric he is one of my favorites.

I read an interview where they said Eric is definitely back, and that next year's plot in part is Pam searching for Eric.  I was kinda bleah this year.  I wasn't as invested as the first year or two.  I did like the tribute to Terry, but I wonder why?  What was the point of that episode?

Rachel,

I think the point of the episode is to show what a caring community they live in and they support each other no matter how screwed up they all are. Having sat through several military funerals in the last few years it was well done. Taps rips me apart every time I hear it.
