This was a fairly long read at 640 pages but far from slow! I really became immersed in it! I read my first Greg Iles book earlier this year and liked that. This was certainly not disappointing as a follow-up! It was, at times, very complex and detailed but not hard to follow, just intelligent. The ideas presented regarding the potential for use of biological agents (viruses, etc.) for evil purposes is not a new one, of course. I am not a scientist so I can't vouch for accuracy but it convinced me! It was extremely detailed, realistic and raised my pulse in a few places!! A brilliant sociopathic and just plain nasty bad guy -- who frustratingly continues to fly below the radar -- just adds to the punch!
An awesome book. Very fast-paced with lots of excitement. Wonderful!
This has got to be the best book i have ever read. I absolutely love how this book kept me interested all the way through. This author is brilliant.
This books starts out strong and doesn't let up. Fifteen hours of intense listening pleasure. A Doctor, a Special Agent, a crooked Lawyer (some surprise huh?)and of course, a Killer. So many twists and turns I didn't even try to figure it out, I just let it take me where ever it wanted. Guaranteed to make the time fly by if you listen to this in your car.
Unabridged 15 CDs 17 hours
I think this is the best of Iles work. A great villain (this guy is bad!)and he works in a hero from another of his books.
This is probably the best book I've read in ages! Keeps you intrigued from page 1 ... and doesn't let up until the very end.
I always enjoy this author and I like seeing characters from previous books, make cameo appearances. Not my favorite Iles, but still enjoyable.
I love Greg Iles books! He gets the flavor of the local area. This one was no exception.
Good read. Actually got better than expected at the end.
I couldn't put it down. Great story by a great writer.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing to the end.
This is one of Greg Iles best books and the one that got me hooked.
this is a fast moving mystery - I could not put it down and finished it
in about 4 days.
Another nail-biter from Iles, whose sources and research are impeccable, resulting in a convincing and compelling tale.
This is the first of Iles' books that I've read, but it won't be the last. The characters are interesting, the plot is intriguing, and the action is non-stop. I stayed up half the night to finish it.
Best Iles book I have read
Absolutely loved it. Well written, good story, fast read. Iles is a truly gifted author.
Another great read by Iles!

Couldnt put this book down! was up till 2am reading! I am looking forward to reading some of his other books now! Great plot, fast moving, good characters and a ___ ending - what more can you ask for??
By far, this is Greg Iles's best book yet! The entire story is gripping and the last 50 pages will leave you breathless!!!!
First time I've ever read Iles. It was a great book!
Just what you'd expect from Greg Illes. Characters, plot and action.
Really good, if you like suspence this is it.
This is one of Greg Iles best books!! It will keep you in suspense from beginning to end!! Another page turner!!!
good book - love this author
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat!!!!!
This was one heck of a thriller! It actually gave me a few bad dreams after staying up late reading it. The premise of the book was about dissatisfied husbands or wives using murder rather than divorce to get rid of their spouse. But the murders are not the usual killings but a guaranteed non-traceable cancer or other natural caused illness. The characters, both good and evil, are very well developed in the story. The most interesting is the evil Dr. Tarver, a brilliant researcher who is using the victims as experiments to develop a biological weapon. This is the first Iles novel I've read but I'm sure I'll be reading more of him. High recommendation for this one.
This was my first Greg Iles book and it actually was pretty good. The ending dragged on a little, but all-in-all, it was a good read. I'll try out some of his other books.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It grabs you from the 1st page. It's a page turner. Had a hard time putting it down. This was the 1st book I've read by this author. Will read more of his books. Greg Iles is a master at weaving the web of mystery and suspense. Highly recommend this book.
Another good book from Iles. The premise was very interesting, and I could not put it down.
This was a very interesting book. The story line was different and I just wanted to keep reading it.
Very good mystery! Great mystery writer.
Have truly enjoyed all Greg Iles books, but this was one of the best. Can never put his books down, keeps you on edge. What an imagination!!!
I love this author- Great book.
This one will send chills down your back. Probably you shouldn't read it late at night when you're all alone. And if your spouse looks at you oddly, maybe . . .
From back cover: True evil has a face you know and a voice you trust....
A Southern doctor is pulled into a terrifying ring of murderous secretsin this powerhouse thriller from New York Times bestselling author Greg Iles

Then comes Morse's bombshell: Dr. Shepard's own beautiful wife consulted this lawyer one week ago, a visit Shepard knew nothing about. Will he help Alex Morse catch a killer? Or is he the next one to fall victim to a deadly trap of sex, lies, and murder?
anything Greg Iles write is good. this was exceptional
Not what I expected... This book is very slow getting started, but winds up in an unbelievable flurry. Iles let me down with his deviation of his previous style.
A very good read, with an appropriate title!
This is my first Iles book. I found it to be a page turner and the book was glued to my hands, I took it everywhere! Love his writing style, however I did find there was a bit too much detail in some places and feel the ending could have been shortened. Looking foward to more of his work. I live only 60 miles from Natchez and visit there frequently. I found his descriptions of places in the city to be right on!
Excellent thriller, couldn't put it down. Even though there's over 600 pages, the story moves right along.
excellent, a real page turner.
Well written, well read. Keeps the listener always ready for more. Highly recommend this one.
Excellent writing as one will find in all his books. This was an edge of your seat thriller!
This is the first Greg Iles book I have read, and the plot is intricate, the characters well-developed, and the the suspense is gripping. I have a new favorite author!
A scientist and a lawyer partner to provide the service of spousal murder - an interesting but not far-fetched concept.
This is the first book I've read by Greg Iles and it won't be the last. What a story! It is riveting and I could hardly put it down. I loved the characters. The story line was a new concept on murder. Will definitely read more by this author.
I have read most of Iles' books and liked this one the most. In fact when I finished reading it, I started reading it over again, something unusual for me. I give it 5 stars for intricacy of plot and sustained suspense.
