Interesting if somewhat dry. The author is a learned historian and does his best to make the information interesting to laymen. He is absolutely livid about "Holy Blood Holy Grail" being sensationalist and faulty, however, I would like to see him refute that book directly and specifically rather than unequivocally and in general terms. I suspect his agenda but I learned a lot about the New Testament and its books.
After Readin Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code I was interested in more information regarding relationships between Jesus, Mary Magdalene in an hisorical view. I found this book very interesting and informative. As I am coming from my own Christian View Point.
If you question religious dogma, Bart Ehrman's books are a path to answers that make sense. Not only is he a scholar/professor who can read ancient texts in their original languages and someone who has spent years asking questions---he is also a theologian & former minister in the Christian church. I might not want to agree with his answers but I have to respect someone who has the courage to ask the hard questions and follow the truth wherever it leads.
In this particular book, he takes on the highly popular and controversial book The Da Vinci Code, pointing out where it errs in its claims of truth.
