My public library offers free magazines on Zinio.  I can use it on my laptop (and even on my iPhone, although reading on the iPhone is so annoying I only do it on very long supermarket lines).

To use Zinio on my Kindle Fire, I need to install Adobe Flash.  Kindle wants to make this near impossible (and why not? they sell magazine subscriptions).  I go to the Adobe Flash site, and it says, "What is Kindle Fire's operating system?"  It always gives me several choices--all variations of Linux.  I have looked on EHow and other advice sites as well as Amazon, and can't find out what the OS is.

I would prefer to read my mags from the library on my Kindle, but I am about ready to throw in the towel.

I had to do this when I got my Kindle Fire  HD a few months ago.  Adobe doesn't work with android devices any more so you have to " back door it" so to speak. I downloaded the older browser Dolphin and then from there downloaded Flash. There is one other step that you have to do. I found it by doing a Google search about the newer Fires not having Flash. Pretty much everything I found led me to do it this way. I'd link for you but I'm on my phone.

I know I posted about it here when I first got my Fire. I did a lot of Googling to read about the issue and how angry people were, and how to install it.

It works fine for me - you just have to make sure you're in Dolphin and not Silk. And that's just a matter of clicking the icon after downloaded.

If you can't install Flash using the Dolphin browser, try the Puffin browser.  I know you can install flash in that one.

I have no luck installing another browser on my Fire.  It says it's put it in my downloads file but for the life of me I cannot find a downloads file location to finish the installation.  I think I tried with Dolphin and Opera.  I looked all over and if there's a Downloads file on my Fire, I cannot find it anywhere.

Mary, have to also download ES File Explorer. That's where it will download to. Here are the basic instructions from http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle?cdForum=Fx1D7SY3BVSESG&cdThread=TxTR71JR4GVXQM:

To install Flash: (You have to have a Flash compatible browser in order to install Flash. You can't install it under Silk.)

Do the following on the Fire/Fire HD itself:

Swipe down from the top > More > Device > Allow Installation of Applications.

Install ES File Explorer: ES File Explorer

Download and install the Dolphin HD and Flash Player apk files from these links:

Dolphin HD:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B46yVXXa5JqvcDRob2VDbG5BYzQ/edit?usp=sharing

Flash Player:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B46yVXXa5JqvWUc1YVhjRlkyanM/edit?usp=sharing

Once both files are downloaded to your Fire, open ES File Explorer and look in the "Downloads" folder. You should see both files there. Install Dolphin HD *first* by tapping on the icon. Then install Flash.

Thanks .... I'm ready for spring weather. I should say, more spring weather. We never really had a winter but now it's supposed to pour rain for the next several days. I want sun!

I'm very technology challenged so I was surprised when the whole process worked for me. I usually have no luck and expect technological failure. lol Hopefully it'll work of you!
