I guess since I was raised in land-locked Ohio and then a few years on Texas coastline- Typhoon never really meant much. I started reading this book because my husband was on a carrier in '60's. The words in this book took you on the ship and you experienced the pitch and moan and roll and heave of the carrier- I read several passages to my husband and he turned pale. Said it was like that. I had a hard time giving this up but got a 2nd copy at garage sale.
