Hoping someone can help me out with the most appropriate way to handle this.

I just received notice from the Pittsburgh Bulk Mail Center that they found the envelope I mailed a 3-1 deal in, but the books are no where to be found.  They did include the form that I can write down the description of the books and request that if found they be mailed to either me or the addressee.  I will be filling that out later tonight.

I have also PM'd the person the books were going to and let her know the situation.  I also sent her a couple credits to cover the extra books she will now have to order in place of the deal I was doing for her.

My question is, do we just allow this transaction to go lost in the system, even though the post office has already notified me that the books are lost.  I don't see any way to cancel the transaction from either end.  Did I do this right?  Was there something else I should have done?

Thanks for any help,  Heather

You can just let it go lost or you can use the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page to let the PBS team know what's happened.  They might be able to go in and mark it as lost already for you.

Hey! I just got something that was marked with an apology from the Pittsburgh Bulk Mail Center for opening and "slightly damaging" the package. (The book wasn't damaged as far as I can tell!) I wonder what's going on over there at the bulk mail center!

Here's something from the Help Center that might be useful

USPS lost the book I sent! (they sent me a notice/the empty wrapping)

Isn't it interesting that all these things are happening in Pgh. I just received a pm from a woman from whom I had ordered a book and she had received the same message from the PGH. bulk mailing center. The wrapper was there, but the book was nowhere to be found.

I received an envelope once and filed the lost/stolen form but no luck in getting my book, at least not yet!

Thanks for the link.  For some reason, I just couldn't find that yesterday.  I'm glad I don't have to wait the 26 days for it to go lost.  This way, the requestor will be able to reorder the books faster.
