I happened across an extra copy of 3 different books I already have on my bookshelf and learned that you can not post 2 of the exact same book to your shelf.  Just curious as to why?  Does anyone know?  Thanks.

it's just a rule. As soon as the first one is requested and it's mailed you can post the next one.

My understanding is that the rule is there to give something closer to equal access to the front of the line to as many members as possible, and a presumption that most members are trading their personal reading copies and so would generally only have a single copy anyway.  As Angela mentioned, as soon as your posted copy is sent, you can post the second.   I occasionally have duplicates, when I do I often rubberband the two copies together so that I know to repost the second when the first is requested.

Bret, that is an excellent Idea with the rubberbands! I wish I had thought of that myself.Guess what I'll be doing with my duplicate Terry Brooks novels when I get home? :D

I've had the second copy of a book accepted into the system as soon as I printed off the label.  I've also had to wait until I actually showed that I'd mailed the book before the second copy could be posted.  Just keep trying.  I've posted as many as 5 copies of the same book.  It took a while though and they were WLd books.  Pat

Wow you are brilliant!!!  I was just trying to figure out where to put the books so I would remember to post when the other mailed.  Thanks to everyone's input.

Ah, that makes sense! Thanks for the explanation and great idea Bret!
