I've never had this happen before.  PBS e-mailed me to let me know that I had given a book credit to someone, but I never did any such thing.  Has this happened to anyone else??  I don't know if it is just a glitch somewhere or what.  The recipient is a brand new member here - just signed up yesterday, I think.....How did he gain a credit from me?

Could it have been for an auto requested WL book?  If not then I would contact PBS and tell them you didn't give this person a credit.

There has been a cluster of credit thefts.  PBS will be contacting the members directly on resolving it.

And I certainly would hope that other members might be given a heads up.

Yes, This would be a nice time for the team to share this, perhaps too. Particularly for the less tech savvy members (as they are the ones who are sitting ducks).

If the other person's account has not already been closed and your credit returned, please send in feedback and alert the team to this specific account! While it would be possible to prevent people from registering multiple accounts from the same location or at the same mailing address, a determined fraudster could go from place to place and use all his friends' addresses to get multiple accounts and commit the same crime multiple times, so the team needs to be told about this occurrence if they haven't already detected it.

And change your password!

So you all are saying the thief could only steal a credit if they hacked your password, right?

This cluster has been hacked weak passwords.  Please be sure to use something stronger than "password" or "12345".  Plus watch your PMs from PBS.  Anytime a credit is transferred there is an email message.

If you see something suspicious, please contact PBS.  This applies to spam as well as credit transfers.
