I sent a package via Media Mail using PBS Postage last week. Yesterday, its scan showed "undeliverable as addressed". I contacted the person who ordered, and it turns out this his previous address. So now the package is at that post office.

So what will happen to it now? Will it be returned to me? If he contacts the post office in question, can he arrange to have the package forwarded to him postage due?

I'm not mad about the whole thing, I just wondered what will happen now so I can make arrangements with the person who requested the book.

Thanks!

In most cases, the book will be forwarded to him at his new address as long as he's filed a change of address with USPS. I know the USPS advises you to 'make arrangements' with your local PO concerning forwarding media mail, but SOP for most carriers is to automatically forward it with along with other forwardable items. We don't have access to any particular arrangements made by individual customers. We just forward it.

Thanks for the info, Connie! Hopefully he has a forwarding address on file and it will be forwarded on to him then.

If it's media mail and is forwarded to him, he will probably be charged the full amount of the original postage for having it forwarded. Only 1st class and Priority get forwarded for free.

Thanks! I told the recipient I'd sent the package via Media Mail, and that he'd probably have to pay shipping. He's OK with that.

Thanks for the help!

UPDATE: The latest DC scan shows it heading toward it's the forwarding address! YAY!
