Usually, I enjoy reading the Love Inspired series. However, there are a few books in that series that annoy or anger me. This is one of them.

Faith Richards leaves Kansas City, presumably to find a place with a better football team, and finds herself wiping out on a country road in Willow Creek, NE. Shes found by blue-eyed, flaxen-haired hunk Daniel Whitman, the local pastor. While her bike is repaired, she stays at the parsonage with Daniel and Aunt Dora.

Aunt Dora is the most annoying character Ive come across in this series. She asks Ray, the local mechanic, to delay fixing Faiths bike so she can play matchmaker for Faith and Daniel. When confronted about this later, she refuses to apologize for it.

Hold it. Lying is a sin, and Dora refuses to apologize for it? And she claims to be a Christian? Really, author? Really?

Also, Dora states that shes done this before. So lying is a character flaw for her. Maybe the author should have read the verse at 1 Timothy 5:13, which discusses what older woman should not be doing: Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not.

The romance itself is nicely written, with a triangle occurring between Faith, Daniel, and a 16-year-old church council members daughter, Tami, who did little more than remind me of the character played by Lori Singer in Footloose. Aunt Dora, with her lying and gossiping, made this book nearly intolerable.
